Barbecue grill manufacturer Weber-Stephen Products Co. (Palatine, IL, U.S.) unveiled its new line of three Summit(R) Built-In gas grills at the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association Expo in Anaheim, CA, U.S.

Priced at U.S. $1,499 to $2,299, the new grills come with two matching accessories -- the Summit Built-In Tank Cabinet and Summit Built-In Side Burner -- and are engineered to install much like an indoor range fits into a kitchen counter, Weber says. Its design uses island construction, which is said to make grill installation easier and less costly, as well as provide better access for service.

"We formed a top-level team of engineers to meet the challenge of building a better built-in than anyone else in the market," said Mike Kempster Sr., executive vice president for Weber-Stephen Products Co. "We started with a clean slate and a fresh approach, and we went into the field with grill installers to experience first-hand what obstacles they faced. The result was a line of grills that reflect Weber's exceptional quality and will save consumers money. With its patented Slideframe(TM) design, the Summit Built-In is much easier to install -- for both the do-it-yourselfer and the professional. The grill sets on the Slideframe, and then it is pushed in -- it requires no framing or complex support structures underneath."

Weber thinks the new product "makes sense," as more homeowners are building an outdoor room. According to the company's Outdoor Room Tracking Study(TM), more than one-third of outdoor room owners surveyed said that the design of this area is equally as important as the design of their homes' interior spaces. Nearly half of those surveyed who did not own an outdoor room said they are interested in having one (44 percent), and of those, 28 percent said that they were at least "somewhat likely" to create an outdoor room in the very near future. Importantly, over a third of outdoor room owners said that this space adds to their quality of life.
