U.S.-based Bosch Home Appliances announced it has teamed up with Earth Pledge, a national non-profit that advocates sustainable agriculture, architecture and design, to offer the "Take the Earth Pledge" sweepstakes in conjunction with the 14th Annual Windows on Long Island Wine event.

Windows is the premier food- and wine-tasting and annual fundraising event that supports Earth Pledge's sustainable agricultural and cuisine programs. The event will be held on May 3, 2004 with more than 20 vineyards and 25 restaurants.

Participants can sign a pledge to protect the environment and enter to win the grand prize trip for two to New York City for the "Windows" event and a suite of energy efficient Bosch-branded kitchen appliances, including Bosch's new Free-Standing Convection Range and award-winning dishwasher. Runners-up will receive Bosch high performance small appliances.

"We're proud to support an organization that shares our vision of preserving natural resources for generations to come," said Franz Bosshard, president and CEO, Bosch Home Appliances. "Bosch has taken its own environmental pledge by producing a line of high performance and extremely energy efficient appliances and implementing progressive, environmental protection production techniques. We encourage others to follow suit and take their own earth pledge."

Participants can visit the Earth Pledge Web site at To enter to win, contestants sign an optional pledge to the environment, describing two things that they do to protect the environment and preserve natural resources. Entries will be accepted online from March 15 to April 15, 2004.

The grand prize winner will receive a trip for two to New York, NY, U.S. to attend the Windows event with a three night stay at the Tribeca Grand Hotel. The winner will also receive a prize package of energy efficient Bosch appliances, including a Free-Standing Convection Range, which is made of fully recyclable materials; Over-The-Range Microwave; and Integra Limited Design Dishwasher, which can wash a full load of dishes with as little as 3.1 gallons of water and has earned the ENERGY STAR(R) label.

The first runner-up will receive a Bosch F.A. Porsche Designer Series Coffee Maker, Blender, Kettle, and Juicer and the second runner-up will receive a Bosch MUM 7400 Kitchen Machine.

"We have found that it is easy for any consumer to make simple yet smart choices in their daily lives to help save natural resources," said Leslie Hoffman, executive director of Earth Pledge. "It can be as easy as enlisting your children to place all newspapers, bottles, and cans in your home's recycling bin, or purchasing energy and water saving appliances, such as a Bosch dishwasher."
