Nokia Provides its WAP Gateway to Guangdong MCC in China

Mobile phone maker and technology company Nokia (Helsinki, Finland) and China's Guangdong Mobile Communications Corporation Ltd. (MCC) have agreed that Nokia will supply its WAP Gateway solution to provide WAP service to the majority of China's Guangdong province.

The system provided by Nokia is one of the largest implementations of the Nokia WAP Gateway to date, able to handle a massive number of simultaneous WAP sessions.

The Nokia WAP Gateway provides access to WAP browsing services such as news access and online tickets purchasing. It also supports other advanced solutions for accessing rich content services, including MMS and content download. The system for Guangdong MCC has been implemented and is already operational.

Nokia has also provided an extensive range of services including implementation, systems integration, and customized load-pressure testing for fast service ramp up. In addition, Nokia will provide care services including software maintenance, help desk, emergency support, health check services, on-site support, as well as training services.
