Fisher & Paykel Appliances Ltd., a New Zealand home appliance manufacturer, announced it has made a revised agreement to distribute products of U.S.-based appliance maker Whirlpool Corporation.
Under the deal with Whirlpool (Australia), Fisher & Paykel has exclusive rights to sell and distribute the Whirlpool brand in New Zealand through its existing network of retailers, the two companies said in a statement.
In August 2003, Fisher & Paykel and Whirlpool announced the formation of a global strategic alliance. The distribution agreement in New Zealand follows a similar agreement announced in October 2003, that allowed Whirlpool UK Limited to distribute the "Fisher & Paykel" brand in England, Scotland, and Wales.
"Whirlpool is a highly respected global brand and [its] products offer features and benefits that differ from those designed and built by us," said John Bongard, managing director of Fisher & Paykel, said in a statement.
