Johnson Outdoors Inc. has announced that an inquiry by the European Commission (EC) of the European Union (EU) has been concluded, with no further action warranted and no fine imposed.

In February 2003, the competition department of the EC initiated formal proceedings in the case, which concerned former distribution arrangements for the company's European Diving subsidiaries. Johnson Outdoors cooperated fully with the inquiry, and responded to the Commission's views at a hearing last summer, according to the company,

"As a multinational company, our policy is clear -- we will comply with applicable local and supranational laws wherever we operate. The commission conducted a thorough and detailed investigation, and obviously, we're pleased with the decision," Helen Johnson-Leipold, chairman and CEO of Johnson Controls, said in a written statement.
