Manitowoc Ice to Expand China Operations

The Manitowoc Company, Inc., a commercial ice machine manufacturer, announced that its Foodservice Group plans to build a larger manufacturing and training facility in China, near its present location in Hangzhou. The company plans to start the facility in early April and expects to complete the construction phase by 2004 with production to begin in early 2005.

The 140,000-sq ft facility is said to include an engineering and design center, a service and sales training center, and a showroom. According to Dan Brandl, executive vice president of the ice machine division of Manitowoc's Foodservice Group, "This new facility is necessary to support the rapid growth in demand and expanded product offering that Manitowoc contemplates for the Asian region."
