Camco Announces Tentative Plant Closure

Canadian home appliance maker Camco Inc. and the Union representing employees at the company's manufacturing facility in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada have tentatively agreed to a plant closure contract. A ratification vote is expected on Jan. 14, 2004.

James Fleck, CEO and president, commented: "We are pleased to have reached an agreement with our employees as the company proceeds through the plant closure period. This agreement will allow us to continue operations without disruption through 2004. This agreement will also provide clarity for our workforce, as they prepare for closure in December 2004".

In addition to its Hamilton facility, Camco has Canadian manufacturing operations in Montreal, Quebec. The company's product line includes brands such as GE, Hotpoint, Moffat, and Monogram.
