LG Electronics Targets 20-Percent Rise In 2004

South Korean appliance maker LG Electronics Inc. announced that it is targeting a 20-percent increase in global sales in 2004 from 29 trillion won (approx. U.S. $24.6 billion).

A company spokesman said global sales represent the sales generated by LG's 76 overseas units, as well as exports of goods made by LG Electronics in Korea.

To achieve its target, the home appliance maker said it plans to spend $300 million in brand marketing activities in the next 3 years. It has also set up a new brand management team.

LG Electronics posted a third-quarter net profit of 223.8 billion won (approx. $190 million). Full- year 2003 results are scheduled to be released in February. (Dow Jones)
