Chinese electronics giant Haier Group plans to diversify its home appliance line-up in the South Korean market, according to the company's local dealer HL Global Co..
The move by Haier, the world's largest maker of refrigerators, is expected to spark stiff competition with local manufacturers.
Haier is scheduled to debut its low-end refrigerators in the domestic market in February. The firm plans to sell dishwashers and freezers in the second half of the year.
"In 2005, we will sell televisions, washing machines, and air purifiers in the Korean market," said an official of HL Korea.
Established in 1984, Haier is also the world's fifth-largest manufacturer of home electrical appliances in terms of output. (Yonhap, Asia Pulse)
