South Korean Exports of MP3 Players Rise

South Korean exports of MP3 players increased by 44.2 percent in the first 10 months of the year, according to industry officials.

Shipments of the product in the January-October period stood at U.S. $128 million, compared with $88.9 million in the same period last year, reported officials at the Electronic Industries Association of Korea.

Shipments to Asia accounted for $62 million, with Europe and North America accounting for $33.9 million and 28 million, respectively.

Hong Kong topped the list with $36.6 million, followed by the U.S. and Japan with $24.6 million and $17 million, respectively.

"Along with electronics giants such as Samsung and LG Electronics, the exports by small- and medium-sized companies such as Reigncom and Cowon Systems, Inc. have shot up significantly with their quality being enhanced," an Association official said. (Yonhap, Asia Pulse)
