The 35th annual medical trade show, Medica 2003, announced record results. The show reported an estimated 134,700 visitors and 3,906 exhibitors from 65 countries, compared to 132,500 visitors and 3,648 exhibitors last year.
The U.S. led as the largest foreign exhibitor nation with 322 companies, as Italy attended with 256, Great Britain with 225, France with 216, and China with 197. Every third visitor and 62 percent of exhibitors were reported to have attended from outside of Germany, where the show was held.
"Medica presented a large variety of new products for all market segments. Everyone could experience how this could help to achieve greater efficiency, and at the same time, help to improve the quality of diagnosis and therapy," said Horst Klosterkemper, managing director of Messe Dusselfdorf, the show organizer.
Next year's show is scheduled for Nov. 24 – 27, 2004 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
