South Korea's LG Electronics Inc. announced that it has received orders to supply U.S. computer manufacturer Dell Inc. with large-sized liquid crystal display (LCD) monitors.
Financial terms weren't disclosed.
LG Electronics spokesman Kim Hyung Jong said LG recently began supplying 30-in LCD monitors for televisions to Dell, with a minimum order of 5,000 units a month. The order may be expanded to 10,000 units, he said.
LG will also provide 100,000 15-in and 17-in monitors to the U.S. computer firm on a monthly basis, Mr. Kim said.
He also said that LG's agreement with Dell to provide large-sized LCD monitors is for about 2 years.
The spokesman said the order from Dell will help boost the company's revenues, although he couldn't quantify the specific amount.
LG, which already provides 18-in monitors to Dell, also makes home appliances and mobile handsets. The company posted a net profit of 223.8 billion won (U.S. $186.2 million) on revenue of KRW4.92 trillion for the third-quarter ended Sept. 30. (Dow Jones)
