Royal Philips Electronics has announced a 10-year, multi-million dollar strategic agreement with Inova Health System, a not-for-profit healthcare system based in Northern Virginia.
Under the terms of the agreement, Philips will provide best-in-class cardiovascular imaging equipment, consulting, and professional services to Inova Fairfax Hospital.
In addition, Philips will provide Inova Heart Institute, a specialty hospital scheduled to open in 2004, with a variety of innovative products and services.
The Inova Heart Institute at Inova Fairfax Hospital/Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children will be a 156-bed, 360,000-sq ft facility solely dedicated to identifying the causes and advancing the treatments of cardiovascular diseases.
Once installed, Philips imaging technologies will be used for clinical practice and research including evaluation of a 3D catheterization (cath) lab, conducting studies on dose management and image quality optimization. In addition, the Heart Institute will have three electrophysiology labs.
One of the advanced technologies Inova will utilize is the new Integris Allura Flat Detector. This new cath lab features Xper (X-ray Personalized) technology, which includes numerous personalized settings to tailor system performance to the individual clinician's needs. The system also features Xres, Philips’ new, real-time algorithm that contributes to superior image quality by reducing noise and enhancing the visualization of coronary arteries. Additionally, the Integris Allura Flat Detector is the first flat detector cath lab to offer three-dimensional rotational angiography (3D-RA), an interventional tool that enables scanned images to be reconstructed in 3D.
