LG Mobile Phones Top U.S. Consumer Satisfaction Poll

LG Electronics Co. has announced that it outranked Samsung Electronics, Nokia, Motorola, and other global mobile handset makers as the best handset brand in a U.S. consumer satisfaction survey.
The South Korean appliance maker said the renowned U.S. market research agency J.D. Power & Associates ranked LG as the number-one handset brand in its latest consumer satisfaction poll.
According to the "2003 U.S. Wireless Phone Evaluation Study," LG garnered the top score of 121 points in a total of five categories -- physical design, features, operation, battery function, and durability.
Trailing LG in the rankings was Samsung (117) and Sanyo (116), among others, the study reported. The wireless phone evaluation study measured customer satisfaction among the eight largest wireless handset manufacturers and was based on responses from about 24,000 households.
"LG's ascent to the top in this year's J.D. Power survey reflects the company's efforts to enhance its brand awareness and consumer reliability since its entry into the U.S. wireless handset market in 1999," Kim Jong-eun, a director of LG Electronics in charge of its handset division, said.
