GLM To Launch Fall Housewares Show

George Little Management (GLM) has announced plans to launch the New York Gourmet Housewares Show, a new, early-fall housewares event to be held annually in New York City, beginning in October 2004. The new event will be positioned alongside three established GLM-managed events – the New York Home Textiles Show, EX·TRACTS : A Tradeshow for Aromatherapy, Fragrance & Personal Care and SURTEX Gallery – and the four shows will be presented collectively as the "House to Home Market Week."

"There are seismic shifts in the housewares calendar created by the International Housewares Association’s move to March and by the changing composition of Messe Frankfurt’s August market," said Alan Steel, GLM’s executive vice president. "Following our decision to keep our Gourmet Products Show in San Francisco each May, we received a great deal of feedback from retailers and manufacturers that an additional show, on the East coast in the fall, would fill a current void in the housewares industry calendar."

The first annual New York Gourmet Housewares Show is expected to feature some 400 exhibitors of cookware, kitchen gadgets, cutlery, small electrics, specialty appliances (non-electric or electric), tabletop, decorative accessories and small electrics for personal care and the home environment.

By presenting this new event alongside existing events for home fashions and personal care, GLM said it can create a comprehensive new marketplace for buyers and sellers of products across the "home" spectrum. As such, it said, the "House to Home" umbrella will allow the current market offerings to be broadened and will create some dynamic synergies for related product categories.
