Electronics manufacturer Samsung Electronics Co. exhibited 29 new computer, printer, and monitor items at the COEX show in Seoul.
Samsung said it has enhanced its audio-video entertainment and home networking functions in order to strengthen its presence in the computer market.
"Samsung Electronics is looking to become a product-based innovator in the world market by 2005, through strengthening its visual and imaging business," said Choi Gee-sung, vice president of the company's digital media division. "To that end, we will focus on establishing a platform business base for notebook computers and set-top boxes."
On display were three computer models with enhanced audio-video and multi-media functions. Samsung also exhibited what it says is the quietest laser color printer on the market, along with other peripheral devices.
"We drastically improved the toner change system, paper feeder, and dual-sided printing function," said a Samsung official.
The company also introduced 12 color flat-screen monitors, including 40- and 32-in models, with a life expectancy of some 70,000 hr. (Asia Pulse, Yonhap)
