Philips Electronics plans to close a semiconductor research and development facility in Rennes, France, to lower costs. Along with other reductions at three other French facilities, a company spokesman said, Philips may cut as many as 240 positions.
The Philips semiconductor business is cutting expenses by shedding jobs and closing two U.S. factories. (Bloomberg)
