Genesis Microchip Inc., a provider of display image processors for consumer and PC-display products, announced that LG Electronics has selected Genesis’ FLI2200 digital video processor for its new XGA and SVGA DLP (Digital Light Processing) Projectors.

LG Electronics' new slim-line DLP Projectors weigh 3.5 lb, and feature brightness up to 1400 ANSI lumens and a contrast ratio of 1100:1. According to Genesis, the projectors rely on its digital video processing with DCDi(R) by Faroudja technology to produce visibly superior picture quality regardless of the video source. The projectors will carry the DCDi(R) by Faroudja logo on the faceplates to certify the inclusion of this technology.

"The front projection market is growing rapidly, driven by lower weight, smaller form factor systems that can deliver high levels of performance," said Sweta Dash, director of Projection Research for iSuppli/Stanford Resources. "We forecast that sales of front projectors weighing 5 lb and less will reach 1.1 million units in 2003, growing to 3.8 million units in 2007. Within this market the 3-lb class of projectors will grow most rapidly."
