Samsung Indonesia Aims to Double Sales of Local Products

Korean-owned PT Samsung Elektronik Indonesia (SEIN) said it plans to double its sales of locally assembled products to U.S. $300 million this year.

Sales director Lee Kang Hyun said yesterday that Samsung’s sales of its local products were valued at $150 million last year.

Mr. Lee added that SEIN has increased its production to meet growing market demand and predicted that Samsung will move to dominate sales of TV sets, washing machines, and refrigerators in the country.

Currently, the company is number five in market share for its TV, washing machine, and refrigerator products. The company said it has set aside $100 million to promote sales of its electronic products in the country.

Mr. Lee said his company set a 5-percet growth in exports to $850 million this year from $800 million in 2002. (Asia Pulse, ANTARA)
