Eastman Kodak Names Chief Governance Officer

Digital camera maker Eastman Kodak Company announced the appointment of Laurence L. Hickey, assistant secretary, as the company's first chief governance officer, effective immediately.

As chief governance officer, Mr. Hickey will be responsible for leading the company's efforts to comply with government and New York Stock Exchange mandates and to identify and adopt best practices, in the corporate governance arena. He will perform ongoing assessments of the governance practices and structure of the company's Board of Directors and will identify opportunities for improvement.

In this new capacity, Mr. Hickey will report both to Corporate Secretary James Quinn and to the Corporate Governance and Responsibility Committee of the Board of Directors.

In his current role, Mr. Hickey is responsible for executive and equity compensation issues and will continue to provide support to the corporate secretary, while assuming additional responsibility as CGO.

Prior to joining Kodak in 1989, Mr. Hickey was an associate for 5 years at the Rochester, N.Y., U.S. office of Phillips, Lytle, Hitchcock, Blaine, and Huber. He was responsible for employee benefits and general corporate and tax planning.

He earned a B.A. in English and Business from Rollins College, an MBA from the Crummer School of Business, a JD from Vermont Law School, and an LLM in Tax from Boston University.
