Aga Ranges, Inc. (Cherry Hill, NJ, U.S.) on Tuesday announced the introduction of its new dual-fuel Aga Six-Four Series.
This newcomer to the Aga family is said to fuse the company's well-known European styling and cast iron construction with state-of-the-art technology. "We're really excited about this introduction," says Andrea M. Moravsky, vice president of Sales and Marketing. "The Six-Four Series is designed to appeal to the audience that aspires to own an Aga for its design and construction, but who prefer to cook using more traditional methods," she continues.
The dual-fuel range includes six gas burners and four electric ovens. Of those, the ultra-rapid wok burner is the most powerful, but is also versatile, because it is two burners in one. When set on high, it is ideal for stir- frying (20,500 BTU capacity). When less heat is needed, the outer ring can be turned down, or the inner ring can be used on its own to give a mere trickle of heat (as low as 650 BTU) to coax even the most delicate sauces to velvety perfection.
Available in 14 colors, the Six-Four Series also includes four independently controlled electric ovens, including a conventional Roasting Oven ideal for all types of cooking, a Simmering Oven for slow cooking, a pure convection Baking Oven, as well as a Broiling Oven. The company says that, theoretically, one could whip up a stir-fry, roast a turkey, slow cook a stew, bake a pie, and broil skewered vegetables -- all at the same time.
Like all Aga ranges, the new dual-fuel model is made in the Coalbrookdale Foundry in Shropshire, England. It is available this month through Aga distributors and dealers throughout North America for a suggested retail price of U.S. $6,999.
