Spending by Japanese wage-earning households fell a real 3.5 percent in January from a year earlier after a fall of 3.5 percent in December, the government said.
The average monthly spending of wage-earning households came to 319,809 yen (U.S. $2,721), the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications said in a preliminary report. (Kyodo News)
