The Hoover Co. wants a competitor, EuroPro Corp. of Montreal, to stop using the term "Widepath" to describe its vacuum cleaners, claiming it infringes on a Hoover trademark.
The North Canton, OH, U.S.-based company filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in Akron on , asking for an injunction against EuroPro's use of the term. Hoover said it has used "Widepath" since 1999 in connection with a broad range of vacuum cleaners and carpet extractors. EuroPro recently began marketing a Shark UV204SH Spectra Widepath.
