The Electrolux Group announced this week that nine of its major appliance and outdoor products factories have qualified for ISO 14001 certification of their environmental management systems. They join two other major appliance factories and The Eureka Company’s floor care products facility, which previously qualified.

The ISO standard assures that qualified businesses have a sound process for dealing with environmental issues and that those processes are followed in everyday operation. Certification includes controls such as recycling, pollution prevention, and internal management processes. Each of the Electrolux locations worked for months in preparing the processes, documentation, training, and implementation. Certification comes only after a detailed audit and an inspection by an independent ISO 14001 Registrar.

The newly qualified major appliance factories are:

  • Electrolux Home Products -- Laundry Products -- Webster City, IA, U.S.
  • Electrolux Home Products -- Cooking Products -- Springfield, TN, U.S.

The qualifying outdoor products factories are:

  • Electrolux Home Products -- Specialty Power Products -- Nashville, AR, U.S.
  • Electrolux Home Products -- Specialty Power Products-Howard St. Plant - Nashville, AR, U.S.
  • Electrolux Home Products -- Specialty Power Products -- DeQueen, AR, U.S.
  • Electrolux Home Products -- Design & Engineering Center -- Texarkana, TX, U.S.
  • Electrolux Home Products -- Lawn & Garden Tractors -- Orangeburg, SC, U.S.
  • Electrolux Home Products -- Lawn Mower Products -- McRae, GA, U.S.
  • Electrolux Home Products -- Lawn & Garden Products -- Swainsboro, GA, U.S.

    Previously qualified factories are:

  • Electrolux Home Products -- Refrigerator Products -- Greenville, MI, U.S.
  • Electrolux Home Products -- Laundry Components -- Jefferson, IA, U.S.
  • The Eureka Company -- Vacuum Cleaners -- El Paso, TX, U.S.

"Achieving ISO 14001 status across so many of our facilities underscores the commitment of Electrolux to environmental excellence in our operations and in our products," said Frank Wagner, executive vice president, Operations of Electrolux Home Products. "We are very proud of the efforts put in by so many of our associates in achieving this milestone."
