Circuit City Stores Inc. said it would cut about 2,000 jobs, or
4.8 percent of its work force, and stop paying its sales staff
commissions. The electronics retailer said sales at stores open at least a year fell 2 percent in January from a year earlier.

As part of a change in its marketing strategy, Circuit City said
it would stop paying commissions to salespeople and instead will
pay all store employees an hourly rate. (Associated Press)
