Michael Cleland has been appointed president and CEO of the
Canadian Gas Association effective Feb. 3, 2003. For the
past 3 years, Mr. Cleland has worked as senior vice president, Government Relations, for the Canadian Electricity Association. Prior to this, he pursued a career in consulting and government, most recently at Natural Resources Canada. Mr. Cleland holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of British Columbia and a Master's degree from the School of Urban and Regional Planning at Queen's University.

The appointment of Mr. Cleland is part of a major transformation
undertaken by the Canadian Gas Association over the past year. One of the most significant changes made has been to move the CGA head office from Toronto to Ottawa to strengthen the Association's relationships with the federal government. The mission of the Canadian Gas Association is to provide leadership in the continuing growth of Canada's natural gas and energy delivery industry. Members of the Association include Canada's major gas distribution and transmission companies and appliance and equipment makers.
