After entering into a technical collaboration with UK-based Eaton-Williams Group Ltd. for manufacturing Precision Controlled Packaged Air-conditioners (PCPA) in India, Blue Star Ltd. is now planning to enter the high-end precision air-conditioning market catering to precision air control applications in information technlogy, software, telecom communications/server rooms, and process industries.

"This is part of the company’s strategy to offer precise temperature and humidity controlled high-end technological packaged ACs for the Indian market," says Satish Jamdar, executive vice president, Blue Star Ltd. With the move, the company plans to manufacture PCPAs in India by February 2003 and hopes to sell around 1,000 units of PCPAs in the first 2 years of operation, Mr. Jamdar says. Blue Star will source the high-end technology from Eaton Williams, manufacture the products in their plants in India, market PCPAs in the country and also export part of these products to nearby markets in collaboration with Eaton Williams. "With the move, we are hopefully looking at the possibilities of making India as an export-base for these PCPAs in the region in the next five years," says Mr. Jamdar. Blue Star is also planning to expand manufacturing capacity by an additional 35 percent, at its facility located at Dadra, India. (Financial Express)
