Canon Opens Vietnam Plant

Japan's Canon Inc. has inaugurated a U.S. $76.7 million ink jet printer plant in Hanoi's Thang Long Industrial Park in Vietnam, just 5 months after beginning mass production. Canon's president and CEO Fujio Mitarai said the investment was part of Canon's plans to expand its printer manufacturing base in Southeast Asia, following the establishment of Canon Hi-tech in Thailand. The Canon project had set a time record in receiving a license within just a week last year.
