HVAC manufacturer York International Corporation (York, PA, U.S.) today announced changes to its leadership team and plans to consolidate and reorganize its York Refrigeration Group (YRG) and Engineered Systems Group (ESG) into Geographic Units.

The company said the leadership changes and the realignment of these businesses support key short-term and long-term strategic initiatives.

"York International is a market leader in both industrial refrigeration and engineered HVAC systems, and there are many common or complementary technologies, skills and competencies shared by ESG and YRG," said Michael Young, president and CEO. "The synergy between these groups is substantial and their consolidation on a geographic basis will allow us to greatly increase the rate at which the benefits will be realized. The benefits include increased service business and cross-product line sales, cost savings through integration of service, administration, and manufacturing operations, streamlined technology development, and facilitation of common business systems and processes. All of this, in an environment of increased customer satisfaction."

The following leadership changes were announced, effective Jan. 1, 2003:

David Myers has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer. He will be responsible for strategy and business development and will have increased involvement in all operational activities within York. He will continue to have responsibility for all financial and information technology activities. Mr. Myers previously served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Peter Spellar has been named vice president and president of York Europe, Middle East, and Africa. This includes all Engineered Systems, Refrigeration, and Unitary Products operations in those regions. Mr. Spellar previously led the global Engineered Systems Group.

Iain Campbell has been named vice president and president of the York Americas, which includes all of the Engineered Systems and Refrigeration activities in North America and all businesses in Latin America. Mr. Campbell was most recently vice president of North America Sales and Service for Engineered Systems.

Ole Andersen, who has been president of the global York Refrigeration Group since York's acquisition of Sabroe Refrigeration ApS in 1999, and who has led the integration of Sabroe and York's traditional refrigeration businesses, has announced his retirement effective Dec. 31, 2002.

Kam Leong will continue as president of York Asia and will assume responsibility for all York activities in the region.

Peter Spellar, Iain Campbell and Kam Leong will comprise a Geographic Unit Operating Board, under the direction of David Myers, that will ensure excellent service to global accounts and the best possible utilization of centers of excellence, capital investment and business systems.

Tom Huntington will continue as president of the North American Unitary Products Group and Wayne Kennedy will continue as president of Bristol Compressors. Their responsibilities and organizations are not affected by this change.
