LG Electronics India has repeated its August sales performance by retaining leadership in the frost-free (FF) refrigerator segment for September, ORG-GfK retail audit statistics said.
LG product group head (home appliances) Anil Arora said "Though we have expanded vastly and considering that we are launching 18 new refrigerator models, we are still market leaders." The company’s market share in the frost-free segment increased from 21 percent in January-March to 40 percent in September. Mr. Arora added that by 2004 it would be possible for the company to acquire a market share of 70-75 percent, which would then be its consolidation figure.

LG started by importing frost-free refrigerators from Korea because it did not have a factory when it first entered the Indian market and continues to buy direct cool (DC) refrigerators from Voltas. (Financial Express)
