Maytag Forms Specialty Group for Luxury Kitchen Appliances; Commercial Foodservice Equipment

Maytag Corporation has established the Maytag Specialty Groupto provide additional emphasis on the luxury segment of residential kitchen appliances and expand the company's offering in the commercial food service business, according to an announcement by Roger K. Scholten, senior vice president. Craig I. Ibsen has joined the company as vice president and general manager of the Maytag Specialty Group.

Maytag's Amana Commercial Products unit and Jade Products Company will become part of the new group. Jade includes commercial kitchen products and Dynasty brand residential products, which are positioned at higher price points than other Maytag Corporation brands. Amana Commercial Products provides microwave ovens and other cooking equipment to the food service industry.

"The focus of the new Specialty Group will be expanding our productofferings in both luxury kitchen appliances for the home and commercial food service equipment," Mr. Scholten said. Reporting to Mr. Ibsen will be David C. Kretz, the current vice president and general manager of Amana Commercial Products and Mark P. Champagne, director of operations at Jade Products Company. Mr. Kretz will also assume additional duties identifying key initiatives in Maytag's corporate development department. Since 1999, Mr. Ibsen has served as founder and CEO of Appliancezone Limited, a London-based supply chain service provider focused on the home appliance and consumer electronics industries. Prior to that, he served as president of the AB Electrolux companies in India and vice president of global accounts for Electrolux. Mr. Ibsen also served as a regional manager for Maytag, covering the Asia Pacific region in the early 1990s.
