The consumer electronics industry celebrated the 20-year anniversary of Gary Shapiro's leadership at the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). Mr. Shapiro, who is president and CEO of the association, was honored at a ceremony hosted by the CEA Executive Board, which comprises executives from CEA's consumer electronics (CE) member companies.
Mr. Shapiro began his career with CEA in 1982 as a director of government affairs for Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA), which then represented CEA. Subsequent positions included: general counsel of EIA, vice president of the EIA's Consumer Electronics Group, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Manufacturing Association, which began as a sector of EIA and became CEA in 1999, and president and CEO of CEA.
