GAMA Elects Chairman, Recognizes Industry Leaders at Annual Meeting

At its annual meeting last week in Hilton Head Island, SC, U.S., the Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association (GAMA) elected Ronald E. Massa, president of A.O. Smith Water Products Company, as Chairman of GAMA for 2003-2004. Mr. Massa has served GAMA in a number of capacities over the years, including chairman of the Water Heater Division.

Also at the meeting, Gary Tapella, president and CEO of Rheem Manufacturing Company, was named recipient of GAMA's first Distinguished Service Award, presented to recognize lifetime achievement in the industries GAMA represents. GAMA's first Technical Service Award was presented to Daniel J. Dempsey, director of Heating Products Development for Carrier Corporation's Residential and Light Commercial Group. The Award goes to an individual in recognition of significant contributions to the industries served by GAMA through achievement in the engineering or technical field.
