Sony Electronics Indonesia Ltd. has ended Indonesian operations and is offering severance pay to its 884 workers.
The workers have begun to receive their old-age social security funds from the "Jamsostek" workers social insurance company as of Tuesday (June 3). They are also expected to be given their severance pay from Sony according to valid regulations within 2 weeks.
The workers have reportedly been informed that the closure of its plant in Indonesia was due to some global factors that had forced Sony to stop production in some of its plants all over the world, including Indonesia.
Sony Indonesia stopped production as of last March 31, but its workers received their last regular pay on May 25.
Sony will relocate its Cibitung plant to Malaysia and Thailand. (Asia Pulse, ANTARA)
