Sharp Corp said it will start producing next-generation liquid-crystal display (LCD) panels at a new plant in Mie Prefecture in Japan in June, 4 months ahead of schedule. Sharp said it decided to move up the schedule in view of growing orders for the new products, called system LCD panels and used in mobile phones and personal data assistants. (Kyodo News)
