Premium kitchen appliances maker Dacor launched its Discovery 36-inch Gas TouchTop with digital glass-touch controls, intended to provide a new level of gas cooking precision.

The controls offer individual burner timers and safety locks to prevent accidental use.

"By offering home chefs the ability to pre-program stop times with an automatic timer, we are able to help customers save energy and prevent overcooked meals,” said Steve Joseph, president of Dacor.

The PreciseCook timers enable users to pre-program stop times on each burner.

Dacor’s Perma-Flame Technology automatically re-ignites a flame for continuous heating and uninterrupted cooking should a burner unexpectedly go out. Its SmartFlame Technology reduces flame contact between grates to prevent discoloration and increase longevity.

A safety lock allows users to disable burners, intended for use in families with small children.

The cooktop has a UMRP (unilateral minimum resale price) of $1,999. It will be available nationwide in the United States in mid-to-late 2014.
