NEMA’s Electroindustry Business Conditions Index (EBCI) for current conditions in North America moved back up over the 50-point mark in March 2014, to 52.6. A level above 50 points indicates a stable business environment.

The gain came after a reading of 50 in February 2014, and after a sharp drop in January.

NEMA data for March 2014 did show the index for expected future business conditions down somewhat, but said the reading for conditions in the next six months continued pointing to widespread optimism. The EBCI for North American conditions in the next six months fell to 86.6, from 91.2 in February 2014.
