Samsung and Renowned Chefs to Fight Pediatric Cancer

An event last night at the Altman Building in New York City featured 43 chefs coking on Samsung appliances to raise money for pediatric cancer treatment research.

The Chefs for Kids’ Cancer benefit was a part of the Cookies for Kids’ Cancer campaign.

Chefs worked at more than 20 back-to-back cooking stations in the center of the room and served multi-course meals to a crowd of guests. The stations included 25 Slide-In Flex Duo Oven electric ranges, donated by Samsung Electronics America.

Cookies for Kids’ Cancer was founded in 2008 by Gretchen and Larry Witt. Their son Liam passed away in 2011 after a four-year battle with pediatric cancer—the number one disease killer of children in the United States.

Cookies for Kids’ Cancer has raised more than $8 million and funded nearly four dozen research projects, seven of which have become treatments available for children fighting the disease.

Event co-chairs were Jonathan Benno, chef for Lincoln Ristorante, and Dan Kluger, chef for abc kitchen. Chefs for Kids’ Cancers featured renowned cooking talents, including Michael Toscano (Perla, Montmartre, Jeffrey’s); Jason Lawless (Tocqueville); Nick Anderer (Maialino); Geoffrey Zakarian (The Lambs Club); Marc Forgione (Restaurant Marc Forgione); and Sean Gray (Momofuku Ko).
