Gerald J. Rubin resigned from his positions as CEO and president of Helen of Troy Ltd., which makes small and personal care appliances under brand names such as PUR, Kaz, Braun, Honeywell, and others. Rubin also resigned from the company's board of directors. The changes were effective immediately.

Rubin has taken the position of CEO with El Paso commercial real estate firm River Oaks Properties Ltd.

The Helen of Troy board appointed Julien R. Mininberg to take the position of CEO, effective March 1, 2014, which is the beginning of the company’s fiscal year. Mininberg currently serves as CEO and president of Helen of Troy’s Healthcare/Home Environment segment, which includes Kaz and PUR brands.

Thomas J. Benson, senior vice president and chief financial officer, will serve as interim CEO until Mininberg assumes the CEO role.

The board announced that it will separate the roles of chairman and CEO and it appointed Timothy F. Meeker, an independent director, to succeed Rubin as chairman of the board. The board intends to nominate Mininberg as a director to stand for election at the company’s 2014 annual meeting.
