Liebherr Group expects total turnover to reach EUR 9,086 million in 2013, about the same as turnover in 2012.
In addition to domestic appliances, the German conglomerate makes construction and mining machinery, industrial machinery, transport systems, and various components.
While a slight downturn is expected in the group's construction machinery and mining businesses, growth is expected in its other businesses (including appliances as well as maritime cranes, aerospace and transportation systems, and machine tools and automation systems). Liebherr Group expects turnover in this business area to reach EUR 3,466 million, up EUR 245 million or 8%.
The group’s total investments in the 2013 business year are expected to reach slightly more than EUR 800 million, which is less than in 2012.
The group’s workforce will increase by 1,870 in 2013, to a total of 39,670.
The group said that, despite gradual recovery in the highly developed national economies, only moderate global economic growth is anticipated. The group noted that the International Monetary Fund expects growth to be 3.6 %.
Liebherr said it views the coming business year with "restrained optimism." In its initial forecast for 2014 the conglomerate expected total turnover to reach a volume similar to that achieved in the previous year. The workforce will probably increase slightly in size.
