Canadian Residential Furnace and AC Shipments Up in 2Q

Residential furnace shipments were the biggest-gaining product segment in Canadian HVAC shipments in the second quarter of 2013, according to the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI).

* Residential furnace shipments were 59,856 units, up 4% from 57,323 units in 2Q 2012.
* Residential air-conditioner shipments were 122,063 units, up 3% from 118,818 units in 2Q 2012.
* Commercial air-conditioner shipments were 10,255 units, down 4% from 2Q 2012's 10.667 units.
* Ductless split systems shipments were 25,057 units, down 22% from 32,029 units.
* Air handler units were 610 units in 2Q 2013, down 21% from 662 units in 2Q 2012.
* Chiller bookings in 2Q 2013 were 178 units, down 21% from 225 units in 2Q 2012.
* Unit heater shipments were 5,458 units, down 5% from 5,751 units.
