National home values in the United States were up 0.4% from June to July, to $161,600, according to the July Real Estate Market Report from Zillow. On a year-over-year basis, home values were up 6% from July 2012.
The real estate research firm said that the last time national home values were at this level was in September 2004.
Rents were up 1.7% on a year-over-year basis.
The research firm's Home Value Forecast calls for 4.8% appreciation nationally from July 2013 to July 2014.
Of the nation's 30 largest metro areas covered by the research firm, all showed year-over-year home value increases in July 2013, with more than half growing by double-digit percentages.
