The Electroindustry Business Confidence Index (EBCI) for current conditions in North America, produced by industry association NEMA, remained above the 50-point mark for the eighth month in a row in June 2013. The EBCI rose from 55.9 in May 2013 to 56.7 in June.

In June:
* 33.3% of respondents said conditions improved in the current month, from 47.1% who said so in May
* 20% of respondents said conditions deteriorated in June 2013, from 35.3% who said so in May

The survey's measure of the degree of change in current North American conditions was at +0.2 in June, the same as in May.

Confidence in future business conditions also rose in June. The EBCI for North American conditions six months in the future rose to 83.3 in June 2013, from 76.5 in May 2013.

Two-thirds of survey respondents said they expect conditions to improve in the next six months, from 53% in May.

None of the survey respondents expect deterioration in the business environment in the coming two quarters. This is the same number of panelists who held that view in May.
