Global appliance maker BSH Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH reported that 2012 was another record-breaking financial year.
The Munich-based appliance company, considered Europe's third-largest appliance maker, reported that consolidated revenue was up 1.5%, to EUR 9.8 billion, in 2012. Consolidated net profit was up approximately 25% to EUR 466 million. EBIT improved 5.6% and reached EUR 683 million.
At a press conference in Munich, Dr. Kurt-Ludwig Gutberlet, chairman of the BSH board of management, called 2012 a very good year for the company. Gutberlet also announced that Dr. Karsten Ottenberg will succeed him as chairman of the BSH board of management on July 1, 2013--three months earlier than had been announced in April.
BSH focused on growth markets, especially in the Asia-Pacific region, in 2012. Growth markets are one of three primary growth strategies for BSH. In addition to expanding in growth markets, the company will focus on its successful Small Appliance Business and on Super-Efficient Appliances.
The company expects the euro crisis and the rise of competitors from Asia and Turkey to continue shaping market conditions in Europe. However, BSH expects to build on its successful first-half of 2013 to achieve a slight increase in revenues in the current financial year-- enough to top EUR 10 billion.
