The share of people in the United States who say the economy is in excellent or good shape has doubled since a year ago, according to the latest Pew Research Center, conducted June 12-16.

Pew found that 23% of Americans believe the economy is in excellent or good shape, up from 11% a year ago (and the highest level since January 2008).

More respondents--33%--expect the economy to be better than those who expect it to be worse--19%--in a year.

The latest national survey was conducted by Pew June 12-16 among 1,512 adults.
