The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is initiating rulemaking to consider amended energy conservation standards for commercial warm air furnaces.
By Dec. 31, 2013, DOE is required to either propose amended energy conservation standards for warm air furnaces or to make a determination that the existing standards do not need to be amended.
DOE is soliciting information to assist it in determining whether more stringent national standards are warranted.
DOE requested comment on issues relating to each of the analyses it intends to perform, including:
* market assessment
* engineering analysis
* energy use analysis
* life-cycle cost and payback period analysis
* national impact analysis
Written comments and information are requested on or before June 3, 2013.
