Electrolux Brings In New Plant Manager in Anderson; Anthony Retires after 20 Years

South Carolina media outlets report that Electrolux hired Tom DeRosa to serve as the new plant manager in Anderson, SC, replacing the retiring Terry Anthony. Jack Truong, who heads Electrolux North America, told members of the media that Anthony retired on April 1 after spending 20 years managing the plant in Anderson.

DeRosa comes to the Anderson plant from Rockwell automation in Indiana. The Anderson refrigerator plant currently has about 1,900 employees.

Swedish-based Electrolux reported a strong first quarter in North America, with North American sales up some 12% from the first quarter of 2012. Electrolux President and CEO Keith McLoughlin, speaking in April at the announcement of 1Q 2013 results, said of the North American appliance market: "We are seeing evidence that the recovery in the housing market is finally generating increased consumption of appliances," McLoughlin noted. "As such, our view is that demand for appliances could increase with 3-5% in 2013."
