Electroindustry Business Confidence Shows More Improvement in April

The April Electroindustry Business Confidence Index (EBCI) from industry association NEMA showed continued improvement in the North American business environment. The index was up from 65.9 in March 2013 to 66.7 in April 2013.
Current business conditions as of April 2013:
* 44.5% of respondents reported that conditions improved, up from 41% in March
* 11% of respondents reported conditions deteriorated, up from 9% in March
Confidence in future business conditions were down, however, in April, but was still in positive territory, NEMA said. The EBCI for North American conditions in the next six months was down from 90.9 in March to 80.6 in April 2013.
Future business conditions, as of April 2013:
* two-thirds of survey respondents said they expect conditions to improve in the next six months, down from 86% in March
* 6% expect deterioration in the business environment in the next six months up slightly from 5% in March
