Haier Contributes $1.62 Million to Earthquake Relief

Chinese appliance maker Haier Electronics Group Company and its subsidiaries are donating a total of RMB 10 million (approx. US$1.62 million) to earthquake relief efforts in the Ya'an region of China.
Ya'an City, in the Sichuan Province of China, was struck by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake on April 20, 2013.
The group extended its condolences to victims and rescue workers killed in the earthquake. Upon hearing news of the earthquake, the group said it immediately launched its disaster response mechanism and donated RMB 2 million to the earthquake stricken area.
Donated funds will be used for purchasing relief kits, post-disaster reconstruction, and consulting support services. The group committed to helping the people of the region rebuild their homes.
Other donated funds came from Haier Group Ltd., the controlling company Qingdao Haier and Haier Electronics Group Company, as well as Haier Group Ltd.
