Chigo Sponsors Chinese Cloud-Based Air-Conditioning Forum

The 2013 Cloud AC's Summit Forum, organized by China's Guangdong Province Academy of Intelligent Home Appliances, was held in the China Hall of Science and Technology on March 27.
Zheng Zhuyi, president of the Academy and president of Guangdong Chigo Air Conditioning Company, said in his forum address that cloud-based air-conditioning had the potential to dramatically cut energy AC energy consumption. He said that Chigo intends to be a leader in exploiting the cloud in air-conditioning applications. The company introduced its first cloud-based air-conditioner in February 2012.
The forum was intended to facilitate further examination of study of cloud-based air-conditioner development, application, and Chinese market development.
Dr. Wan Zhongming, director of the Chigo Cloud Computing Research Center, detailed the function and characteristics of cloud-based air-conditioning to forum attendees.
In a post-forum press conference, Zheng Zhuyi said that the cost of adding cloud-control technology to air-conditioners should be essentially free to consumers Cloud-control would be initially be added to premium and mid-range models, he said, but would add little or no cost to the purchase price of the appliance.
